Saying that he did not know he was in Emden's debt; writing "You said 'If Neville sees his way, how about the piece?' How was I to know that Neville did see his way!!"; saying that he would prefer a "nightly renumeration"; adding that he sent Emden "the name & leading incident of [a] piece I had read, and asked you if you knew anything of it -- you did not allude to this"; chiding Emden: "So now, Mr Manager, who's to blame??"
