Summary
Telling her that he has "induced one of the first literary men of the age to edit Lord Byron's Poems & by the means of notes, to redeem his character from the vexatious stains which Moore has either not removed or fixed upon it. With this view, it is intended that the poems shall be printed in the order in which they were written, and I flatter myself that you will feel every disposition to assist. For this purpose I send you a cut up copy of the works, soliciting you to write in it any notes explanatory of the person addressed -- the occasion -- his feelings & particularly to the Early Poems;" saying that she need not reply as he will call on her on Monday.
