Summary
Concerning his resignation as Superintendent of Finance; saying that "The Office of the agent of Marine was annexed to the office of Finance & in resigning my Commission for the latter the former was also resigned at least I have considered the matter in that Light, and I never took any pay as agent of Marine;" adding that he had expected some notice might have been taken of his resignation "especially as my Successors are appointed, but I suppose Congress after the long recess have much business of importance before them;" offering his assistance "to the new Treasury Board" if it is needed.
