Summary
Promising him a copy "of the Clergy's application to the General Assembly last Session....for Leave to assemble & to hold a Consultation to establish some Church Systems. The application was certainly unnecessary as the Meeting proposed to the Objects of it were perfectly legal : but Doc. Smith was anxious for the Sanction of the Assembly & it was granted without any opposition. It is the Desire of all who are acquainted with you or heard of your character that you would attend the Meeting." adding "I think you have improved mightily in your Hand Writing and I shall be glad to have further Proof of it."
