Apologizing for not having answered her sooner but explaining he has been suffering from the gout; assuring her that "I will always be happy to serve you when it is in my Power...that I shall always do you that Justice which your proper & loyal conduct during my Command at Rhode Island enables you to expect from me. I sincerely wish His Majesty's Ministers were but half as much inclined to do you Justice as I am. Allow me to add, Madam, that not only Publick Justice, but also Personal Regard will always incline me to render you every Service..."
