Notes
A "Brydone" appears often in Macready's published diaries; he appears to have been a sort of financial consultant for Macready and may have managed financial matters at Covent Garden Theatre.
Macready gives the place of writing as "C. G. T.", which probably stands for "Covent Garden Theatre."
No year of writing is given, but the letter must have been written during the 19th century and possibly during the period when Macready was managing Covent Garden Theatre (1837-1839).
From Dickens' Friends & Contemporaries.
Summary
Expressing his gratitude to Brydone: "With more thanks than I can crowd into this paper for the zeal & abilities, with which you have filled your difficult office, I beg you to accept this small addition to its salary, by the amount of which you must not measure the value I put upon your many excellent qualities."
