Summary
Complying with the wishes of General Bruce to furnish carts and horses from the local farmers "in case of an Actual Invasion;" adding that they were all ready to "come forward with their Teams, but that they did not chuse to set down their names as they feared by so doing that they would be considered as attached to the Military and liable to be sent any where - You may assure Gen. Bruce that if ever ye service should require it, that there are plenty of Horses & Carriages ready at a moment and I will pledge myself at any time in an hour & half to have at the Barracks Carriages and Horses sufficient to accommodate the Regiments at Ashford and to take them wherever required."
