Announcing the defeat of Cornwallis in Virginia; giving details of the battle for Yorktown; mentioning the benefits of the fall of Yorktown, and noting that the enemy will "be confined to Charlestown and New York, and reduced to a defensive war of those two posts"; commenting on the "exalted talents of General [Nathanael] Greene [that] have been amply displayed in North and South Carolina"; commending the French troops who are fighting with the Americans; telling him that he will try to send him "copies of the capitulations, and returns of the troops and stores taken"; speculating that the Americans will be able to take New York from the British if the French fleet helps them; asking him to look for his brother who will soon be visiting Europe.
