Summary
Requesting that he "do something for us: my officers are so discontented because of the evident neglect with which they are treated that naught but personal affection keeps them in Service - This tye is not sufficient to retain them longer than this campaign. I have no news - We are in this country for the purpose of impressing teams. When I left Monmouth the British] fleet had sailed toward Rhode Island & Sir Henry [Clinton] it was Said, was moving up the Sound with his army - If so, something important may happen, & if our army was over the N. River it would perhaps be fortunate."
