Summary
Concerning his impending prisoner exchange; saying "tomorrow I set out for Philadelphia - it is said a general exchange of Prisoners is to take place - if so, I shall be in the same circumstances I was before I was taken but as the issue of war is uncertain, you will, I know, say this is small consolation but be it as it will, I can safely console myself that I have not acted from pique prejudice or resentment - I have acted from the beginning according to conscience and the dictates of my heart - were it to begin again I should just do the same thing - perhaps I am wrong - but my principles persuade me I am right."
