Expressing his happiness on his success; reporting on the movements and position of enemy troops; reporting on the movement of the British fleet and the troops at York and Gloucester; reporting that given the heat he has moved "slower than Lord Cornwallis Might Wish - my Road has been that to York until we came near the position I intend to Occupy - it is Montock Hill;" relating the position of General Wayne; reporting that the Maryland dragoons have arrived; reporting on the cavalry and the condition of the horses; discussing his need for troops and relaying his understanding that he did not need Militia; saying "my only way to Reinforce you therefore is to Send Regulars;" saying it is his opinion that the enemy will send reinforcements to New York; adding "I think General Clinton and Lord Cornwallis do not agree upon the propriety of the Measure - But Sir Henry Commands, and Sir Henry is Besieged."
