Sending him a copy of a letter he wrote to General George Washington; noting that the "situation in this quarter is not very comfortable," but promising to do his best; mentioning Lord Cornwallis; discussing the delay in the arrival of reinforcements for Virginia and the Southern states; describing what actions he has taken to aid Greene, including writing to the Governor of Maryland and General [William] Smallwood to ask them to "give [Greene] every assistance in their power"; commenting on his battle plans in Virginia; mentioning Baron von Steuben.
