Summary
Discussing a lawsuit brought against the bearer of this letter which seems groundless; wishing he could send him "any Intelligence from this quarter that would be worth your attention; but living in a part of the Country rather remote from the source of politicks, & being as much unconnected with the Public business, as it is possible in our present State to be, I am rather a bad hand at present for any thing of this kind;" relating what the news he had heard from England; reporting that "For the want of money every thing stands still in this State;" saying he has avoided any sort of civil commitment "which my Country has been pleas'd to propose to me - but I shall consider it as my indispensable duty to be in the field, when ever the militia is call'd out."
