Summary
Noting that the fall of Yorktown was "a happy sight for America," but adding that he feels some pity for the defeated men; discussing their next moves in the Revolutionary War; adding that reinforcements will be joining General Greene; saying that he thinks it "very probable that the English will send a body of troops from New York to Charleston"; commenting on the weapons they seized at Yorktown, and making plans to transfer some of the weapons to Greene's men; hoping they will see each other again soon; mentioning his pregnant wife who is currently at Mount Vernon; expressing his hope that she will get to Philadelphia before the child arrives.
