Summary
Sending him "the best remittance of a small sort this place affords. My object is that you sell it or rather cause it to be sold & remit the proceeds after paying any expence which may accrue, to Mrs. Davis of Bath in y'r state who is mother of the late John Davis who died in my service & to whom I wished ever since his death to have continued to send sixty dollars due to her son from me in the return of his faithful service. He was not only a true domestic but a true friend in relieving by his tender care my previous infirmitys - Captain Davis who is a good federalist takes the turtle to your city & will present this let'r to you in person - I thank him for his civility as he seems disposed to be very obliging to me - after my long endurance I have hope of getting tolerably restored..."
