Summary
Writing that the British seem to think that New York is the object of attack rather than Yorktown; noting that it is reported that [Henry] Clinton means to make a movement in the Jerseys or Connecticut; saying he does not think Clinton will rest inactive in New York; commenting on the harmony between the French and American troops; telling him that it is an important time for the Southern states to strike the enemy; alluding to an operation in the Chesapeake [the Siege of Yorktown], and saying that George Washington will write to them with information.
