Summary
Giving troop movement orders for his battalions; advising him "to be on your Guard against Surprise - The Enemy you have to deal with are dexterous in reconnoitering and taking Advantage of any Irregularity in a March or bad Disposition in Encampment, be attentive in both these Cases and make Use of a sufficient Number of good Scouts by which Means you will not only Guard against Surprise, but may have it in your Power to surprise the Enemy - should you be able to force the Enemy to Submission, or should they offer you before you reach their Country such terms as your Instructions and the good of the Country would enable you to accept of, suffer me to advise you before you put a concluding Hand to such Stipulations to make a Point of having delivered to you, Mr. Cameron, Nathaniel Gist and every other Emissary that have been stimulating the Savages against us. Death is the slightest Punishment they are entitled to, and should you have them in your Power you should put them to Death rather than suffer them to be risqued or make their Escape."
