Summary
Congratulating him on the capture of Lord Cornwallis; thanking him for the "signal services [he has] rendered to [his] country since [he has] commanded to the Southward," especially the "severe chastisement [he] gave the Enemy at the E[u]taw Springs"; speculating that his victories in the South and the capture of Cornwallis will "bring about a Peace in the course of the ensuing Winter"; hoping for peace so he can "remove [his] family into New York, as they all begin to be heartily tired of the country"; commenting on the sickness in his family this fall, but writing that he "had the satisfaction to leave them all on the recovery and out of danger."
