Summary
Returning proof sheets with his corrections; saying he is "not quite sure of your account of the Abbey of Newark "By the bye, its name in Dugdale is rather(?) Newstead a singular coincidence considering that the more celebrated Abbey of that name might have been Lady Lovelace's inheritance in the common course of events;" ; saying he has the original grant of the Abbey from King Henry VIII to Sir Anthony Browne as well as the grant of the manor of Jury in the parish of Send purchased from the Onslow family; relating his family's history with the property as well as providing a detailed description of the physical deterioration of the building; concluding by saying that "Jury which is in my possession has now no courts or tenants -- the whole of the lands that might once have been copyhold being now in demesne."
