Notes
Title taken from the item.
The poem appears to be a fair copy. It is not known in whose hand it is written.
The item is undated. Because of its provenance and the style of handwriting, it was most likely made in the 18th century, but this cannot be confirmed. According to the DNB, Hanbury Williams wrote the original poem at some point in his later years, probably between 1749 and his death in 1759.
This manuscript is from a large collection of letters written to Sir George Howland Beaumont (1753-1827) and Lady Margaret Willes Beaumont (1758-1829) of Coleorton Hall and to other members of the Beaumont family.
