The year of writing is not provided, however, the letter is dated "Tuesday May 26;" the only year in the course of the trial (Feb. 1788 - April 1795) on which May 26 falls on a Tuesday is 1789. It is on a Tuesday in 1795, however, the verdict was delivered on 17 April 1795.
