Giving details of recent troop movements in Virginia; mentioning Lord Cornwallis and the Marquis de Lafayette; stating his opinion the Baron von Steuben has been "very Ill treated"; predicting that Yorktown will be taken by Christmas: "we have got [Cornwallis] handsomely in a pudding bag"; noting that the Comte de Grasse has taken possession of the Chesapeake, and adding that "there is little risque of our ever being the Juniors at Sea again"; explaining that Lafayette is keeping him at Fredericksburg; hoping he will be able to help Greene soon.
