This copy of the play was made for the Lieutenant-General of the Paris police, M. Claude Henri Feydeau de Marville.
This play was presented in Paris for the first time at the Comédie Française on Thursday, August 9th 1742; it was repeated on August 11 and August 13th; on August 15th it was announced that it would be performed again on Thursday, August 16th, however, it was suppressed that day, August 15th.

Summary
Written on the rectos and versos of 45 leaves which includes the title page on which the amanuensis has written the performance details, the date on which the play was suppressed; an added signed note, in an unknown hand, indicates that the play was performed again on September 30, 1751; written at the bottom of the title page is the note that this copy was made for "le Lt-general de Police."
