Part of an album of manuscript poems and letters of nineteenth-century English and American authors collected by Mrs. Annie Fields, author and literary hostess in Boston. Manuscripts in the album are described in individual records; see MA 925 for more information.
With an autograph note signed on the verso in which Woodworth sends his best respects to the lady "for whom [Fields] designs" the poem, apologizes for his handwriting, and explains that he has been "labouring under the effects of a paralysis." The note was probably written after Woodworth suffered a paralytic stroke in 1837.
