Summary
Discussing at length Keats's "The Eve of St. Agnes" and "Lamia," and referencing "Isabella." Noting that Keats wishes "The Eve of St. Agnes" and "Lamia" to be published immediately, and reporting that Keats "could not bear" "Lamia," and that the idea of it being published "appeared to make him mawkish." Discussing at length Keats's revisions to "The Eve of St. Agnes," noting that "tho' there are no improper expressions but all is left to inference ... it [the alterations] will render the poem unfit for ladies," but that Keats has replied that "he does not want ladies to read his poetry." Reporting that he then read to Woodhouse his "Lamia" and giving an exposition of the poem.
