Summary
Containing a list of expenses incurred by James Jefferyes, described as "His Majesty's Resident, residing near the Czar of Muscovy [Peter I] at Petersburg," for the period from October 14, 1718 to January 14, 1718-19. These expenses include the following: the cost of traveling from London to Copenhagen, and then from Copenhagen to Petersburg; "intelligence and postage of letters"; "stationary ware"; presents given at Riga and Nerva to "the gouverneurs servants" and "New-years-gifts to 16 Sett of Musicians, to the servants of the court, chancery and post-office." At the bottom of the page, there is a paragraph giving an opinion on, and ultimate approval for, the expenses listed: "I think his Demand reasonable, and do accordingly allow the Summ of one hundred ninety Six pounds for that Expence, & I do also allow the last four articles of this Bill as being according to the allowance wch. has been usually made to a Minister at ye Court of ye Czar of Muscovy."
