The original manuscript of the prince de Nassau-Siegen's memoirs, from which this extract was made by Talleyrand, is said to have been lost.
With an attestation (in an unknown hand) on a preliminary leaf concerning the provenance of the manuscript.

Summary
An extract concerning the battle of Valmy (September, 1792) from the memoirs of the French adventurer and officer Charles Henri Nicolas Otton, prince de Nassau-Siegen. Titled by Talleyrand: "De la bataille de Valmy; extraite de mémoires inédite du prince de Nassau-Siegen, amiral au service de Catherine II, et son Commissaire à l'armée des Princes français, pendant les anées 1790, 91, 92, 93, etc." Written on the rectos and versos of 28 leaves, and with a note in an unknown hand on p. 55 indicating that Nassau-Siegen's memoirs have not been published in Germany or France.
