Summary
Requesting that Early send to headquarters "a consolidated report of all slaves who have been arrested by, and are now in the employ of persons under your command, giving date and circumstances of arrest together with any facts that may facilitate the discovery of the owners. Also a report of all slaves hired by officers or men, giving 'the names and residence of their owners, of the person by whom they were hired out, and of the officer or soldier hiring.'"
