Notes
Address panel with seal and postmarks to "William Pulteney Esq'r / Piccadilly / London."
Volume 16 (MA 1273) of a 33-volume collection of the correspondence of Sir James Pulteney, his family and distinguished contemporaries. (MA 487, MA 297 and MA 1260-1290). The arrangement of the collection is alphabetical by the author of the letter. Items in the collection have been described individually in separate catalog records; see collection level record for more information (MA 1273.1-54).
With drafts of two letters, by an unidentified author, one on the recto and the other on the verso, each unsigned and with the salutation on one of "My Lord" and the other "Sir;" one is asking for his support in Shrewsbury and expressing his hope that he has "no particular connection with my opponents;" and the other is asking for a favor in Shropshire. It is possible that they were both written by William Pulteney given the contents of this brief letter.
