In a penciled notation, by Belle daCosta Greene beneath p. 1, Elizabeth Montague [sic] is described as "the wife of Edward Montague, grandson of the 1st Earl of Sandwich, and was, famous as a "blue stocking."
In his introduction to this letter, in the publication noted below, Wilbur L. Cross says that the probably time of writing was "spring of 1761" and that the place of writing was London.
