Noting that he marched to Monterey [sic], but retraced his steps upon hearing word that General Santa Anna was on the move; adding that he found out the information was wrong and continued back.; informs his wife that he may be away four or five weeks or longer, but that it is impossible to know; saying Santa Anna is inactive and out of reach for now and may be waiting for the legislature before he acts; inclosing $600 for Betty and Dick with his letter.
