Summary
Saying he had been to Lancaster to obtain money due him; reporting "The Enemy have been long preparing to evacuate Philadelphia. I think they will depart tomorrow or next Day. My Division will march first for No. River. I want a little Wine for the Stomack's Sake. If you could procure me a Pipe of Madeira at one Hundred and Twenty to Thirty Pounds I wish you would do it. I imagine it is as low as that by this Time."
