The specimens are: MA 1913.1: "Some Famous Englishmen," a list of names, followed by an alphabet, endorsed in Fairbank's hand on the verso "Draft of a 'Woodside Writing Card' (Dryad Press, Leicester : 1932) written by Alfred Fairbank (2 pages); MA 1913.2: draft of instructions for manipulating the pen, with an autograph signed note on the verso, dated "8.3.1958" saying "This must have been written in 1926 or 1927, at a time when I was paying too much attention to the rhythm of the 'm' & its related letters. I cannot recall the purpose of this draft." (3 pages); MA 1913.3: a 5-line quotation beginning "The peace of that enchanting forenoon", endorsed on the verso in Fairbank's hand "Draft of an illustration for 'A Handwriting Manual' (Dryad Press, Leicester : 1932) written by Alfred Fairbank" (2 pages).
