Explaining that he never replies to critics and will not in this instance; mentioning the election of [Emmanuel- Félicité de Dufort, duc and] Maréchal de Duras to the Académie française; offering two tickets to the reception dinner given in honor of this new member; writing that he and the Maréchal will give short speeches, but that l'abbé [Jacques] Delille will read from his edition of Virgile; relating that his bad cold has prevented him from seeing the comte de Tressan; sending his regards to the comtesse de Tressan and to l'abbé de Tressan, their son.
