Summary
Forwarding the court's opinion in the matter of the Complaint of the Governor of South Carolina that the Massachusetts judiciary had illegally interfered with the return of eight enslaved individuals who had liberated themselves; the opinion states that the eight individuals had been unlawfully imprisoned in Massachusetts but that that act in no wise constituted an infringement of the rights of either the U.S. or the State of South Carolina.
