According to Pauline Danielson, from whom Morgan purchased this manuscript in 1904, this was "the first Dickens mss. to come to America." Much of the provenance information is from Pauline Danielson (see Archives--Early Business Corresp.).
With a note in an unknown hand at the top of p. 1: "Presented to the Metropolitan Sanitary Fair by Robert Bonner." Bonner was the founder of the New York Ledger, the weekly paper that first printed "Hunted Down."
