Charles Ward was a close friend and Collins's informal banker; Frederick Lehmann was a close friend; Henry Bartley was a Collins's solicitor and the husband of Harriet Graves; the composer Sebastian Bensen Schlesinger (called Sebastian Bertholdt Schlesinger in the codicil) was a close friend and, with his wife, the dedicatee of Collins's "Haunted House;" the physician Francis Carr Beard was a close friend and the dedicatee of Collins's "No Name."

With a codicil dated 18 July 1889. The codicil acknowledges the death of his executor Charles Ward, and appoints two executors in his stead: Sebastian Bertholdt Schlesinger of No.8 Wilton Place, Belgrave Square and Francis Carr Beard of 44 Welbeck Street, Cavendish Square.

Summary
Leaving equal bequests of £200 and gold jewelery to Caroline Graves and Martha Rudd, and smaller bequests to servants and family members. Dividing the remainder of the estate into two moieties to benefit Caroline and Martha. On Caroline's death, her half to benefit her daughter Harriet (called Carry or Caroline Junior by Collins). On Harriet's death, her half to be reunited with the rest of the estate and to benefit Martha and her children Marian, Harriet, and William (fathered by Collins and acknowledged as such in the will, but with the surname Dawson). Naming Charles James Ward of No.11 John Street, Adelphi Frederick Lehmann of No.15 Berkeley Square and Henry Powell Bartley of No. 30 Somerset Street, Portman Square as executors.
