Discussing his army's pressing need for horses and hoping Burke will supply them with "none but those of the best herd"; expressing his fear that Lord Cornwallis may attempt to escape into North Carolina; asking him to direct the residents of North Carolina to move all horses and wagons out of the enemy's reach; reporting that he has instructed the Marquis de Lafayette to follow Cornwallis should he try to move into North Carolina; mentioning the recent expedition to take the garrison at Biggins Church.
