Burney published his "History of the Buccaneers of America" in 1816.
Part of a collection of correspondence and papers of Rear Admiral James Burney. Items in this collection have been described individually in separate catalog records; see collection level record for more information.
The notes are not dated, however, in "The Collected Letters of Robert Southey, Part Four: 1810-1815", the dating note refers to a letter dated November 4, 1814 from Southey to John Rickman in which he refers to the notes he is compiling for Burney; the note suggests that the memoranda were "probably compiled and sent shortly after this, giving a date of between late 1814 and early 1815.
