Acknowledging receipt of letters; reporting that he has "attended to what [Temple] desire[s] about money, tea & sugar for John James"; adding that his "poor Brother [James Boswell] is in the most imminent danger; a swelling in his bladder has mortified, but he is yet alive, and God almighty may restore him to us."
