Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
On stationery with blind embossed letterhead: "Rigg's Hotel, / Windermere." On the lefthand side: "Telegrams / 'Riggs / Windermere.'" On the righthand side: "Telephone / No. 6."

Summary
Saying that Knight's letter of March 2nd was forwarded to him in Windermere; writing that he regrets he cannot help Knight with a query; adding "I assume you have tried Mr Gordon Wordsworth of the 'Stepping Stones,' Ambleside. I happen to know that he is just now engaged in making some family researches;" saying that he hopes to make Knight's acquaintance at some point at the Athenæum Club.
