Summary
Referring to the election of General Garfield as President of the United States and Dalzell's work towards that end: "I give you joy upon the result of your labors in the late campaign and rejoice with you, that like myself you can now turn your attention to home and its duties. You may well congratulate yourself as I well know upon your Indiana efforts"; saying that he looks forward to hearing more when Dalzell comes to Washington for the inauguration; concluding "Nowhere is there more joy over the Election of General Garfield than among the Northern men now in Washington."
