Summary
Saying that he forgot to obtain information from Medary on one subject while the latter was in Washington; writing "To my knowledge there never has been an attempt even in Kansas to interfere with the right of a master over his slave. Masters have held their slaves peaceably so far as I have ever been informed. What the President states, however, ought to be true to the letter & therefore I write. Either confirm my impression or tell me how I am wrong."
