Notes
On stationery with blue embossed letterhead: "6, Queen Street, / May Fair. W."
Sarah Fairbrother also called herself "Louisa," and she was known, following her marriage to the Duke of Cambridge in 1847, first as "Mrs. Fairbrother" and then as "Mrs. FitzGeorge." She signs this letter "Louisa FitzGeorge."
The letter is addressed only to "My Dear Mr Doyle" and no fuller name is given for Mrs. FitzGeorge's correspondent. However, there is another letter (MA 9193) in the Morgan collection from her husband to a "Mr. Doyle," and, based on evidence in that letter, it appears to be addressed to Percy William Doyle, former diplomat and friend of the royal family. It seems likely that this is the same "Mr. Doyle."
Summary
Saying that she was "much grieved" to hear he had been ill; asking "What is the Matter with you?"; begging him to take great care of himself, to get "sufficient nourishment" and not to "remain longer in bed than necessary as it is weakening and depressing"; asking if he would like "a little Turtle Soup to morrow. H.R.H [George, Duke of Cambridge] is to send me some"; thanking him for sending a present.
