Summary
Reporting that he leaves tomorrow morning "to commence [their] northern route," and noting that the party consists of "the Baron de Steuben, one Aid de Camp, an Engineer and myself"; writing, "it is altogether uncertain how long we shall be engaged in this tour, I think it will not be much less than three months; should we go down the Ohio, it will certainly be more"; telling him that he is sending someone to pick up some items from his trunk, and asking him to supervise so that none of the items is forgotten.
