Summary
Responding to a subscription appeal and saying that he will ask Mr. Moxon (probably Edward Moxon) to send Dibdin five pounds, "and I shall then gladly receive the Two Copies of your Literary Life!"; describing in detail the "160 designs I possess of [William] Blake's;" praising Blake's "fine and wild creative Imagination" and discussing the different artistic techniques he employs; commenting on Blake's hand-coloring of the designs and the verses that accompany them, "which are often remarkable for their sweetness and their depth of feeling;" concluding "I feel the imperfection of my general description - such singular productions require a Commentary."
