Regretting that he cannot accept his invitation to a public dinner in Belfast; saying "I would gladly have accepted this invitation, had I been enabled to visit Ireland during this summer, but I fear, that will be impossible. I must request you to express to your fellow citizens my grateful sense of the honor wh: they have conferred on me, as well as the regret with wh: I forego the gratification of availing myself of such a distinction."
