Summary
Apologizing for missing him the day before; explaining that he had "[h]ad my Seven league boots on, and was striding over the frosty country;" referring to a letter he received from someone; saying "I told him that the pressure of my own avocations would not admit of my complying, and, more than that, that I am not going, and have not within these five years had the faintest intention of going, to that dreary old Bath for any purpose under the Sun."
