Summary
Giving him a commission for the Bordeaux New Testament at the Hamilton sale; writing that he has identified the subject of a "Diptychon" as "Areobindus, consul of Constantinople, A.D. 506;" saying that he has bought a Limoges binding "of grand appearance," which he plans to put on one of his manuscripts; commenting on the market for art and antiques in Rome: "There are more good things to be picked up here than one wd suppose, mostly fairly cheap, but the Enamel I had to buy against the South Kensington Museum [now the Victoria & Albert Museum]."
