Telling him that Virginia is "much in need of assistance," and saying he plans to "turn back and offer [his] services in this country"; telling him that "Lord Cornwallace [i.e. Cornwallis] & army by this time have made a junction with [William] Phillips's army at Petersburg"; noting that it is reported that Phillips died five days ago; mentioning General [Anthony] Wane [i.e. Wayne]; promising to join Greene's army "at the shortest notice" if Greene needs him.
